“Love and healing are at the center of the songs that Crow and Gazelle create. ”
““They don’t just play music— they create raw moments, shared experiences that remind us of our own humanity. In a world that often feels disconnected and chaotic, their music is a tether - grounding us, and reminding us that we are not alone…” ”
Crow and gazelle is the musical and artistic partnership of Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame songwriter, producer, Mike McClure and the restorative artist, and poet, Chrislyn Lawrence.
It is a hymnodic, moving collaboration borne out of the connection between two people reconnecting, healing, loving, and be-coming together, as they deconstruct worn out beliefs, resurrect real universal truths, and transform trauma into healing in themselves and with others, through song.
Their songs—built around their entangled close harmonies, powerful lyrics, and sparse, reverent instrumentation— are wrought out of radical love. Their debut outing, As Above Now So Below, which was released on April 26, 2024, EARNED #6 ON FOLK CHARTS with the song “THESE ARE THE DAYS” making it to #4. It is an album centered on acceptance and growth in the face of generational pain, which ultimately sees embracing the sacred nature within each and every one of us as a pathway to healing.
Through music, and conversations, Crow and Gazelle explore deeply personal and universal experiences like grief, the healing power of love, anxiety, addiction, and religious trauma.
In each song, and throughout their live shows, the artists reach deep inside to feel their way to a better understanding of being alive.
Their sophomore offering Truth Be Told, came out in May 2026 and charted their debut single and album in Top 50 on Americana -it is a mystical concept record of reckoning, which looks at our alienating suffering, and the urgency to deconstruct and decolonize beliefs and lies spawned from organized religion -
to remember the ultimate truth -
We were born from original light, not original sin.
With ancient wisdom woven in its seams, the record makes its way through darkness and revolution with more sonic power, and a bigger bang than their debut - TBT ultimately asks
whether the human race will continue to worship gods of fear, and destruction, or will we
choose liberation and free ourselves from the web of unprocessed generational shame and rage.
Told through a central feminine character, who is ultimately hunted
for her words and her deeds, the record plays out like a conversation between her and her partner,
as songs revel their inner workings and their struggles to overcome the dark forces trying to hunt and control us all, all the while trying to remain true to Love.
Recentering Love (and the sacred feminine) is the Revolution at hand,
and Crow and Gazelle intend to help lead the charge.
“Crow and Gazelle is a collective, with true synergy like a new being… Truth Be Told is one of my personal favorite albums of 2026” - Jimi Palacios NOLA County
"...McClure, who sounds a little like Steve Earle, and Lawrence, whose vocals might remind you of Iris DeMent… confront big subjects—including capitalism, religion, suffering, and violence—with passion, conviction, and raw emotion" Jeff Burger, Blogcritics
"There’s an appealing honesty in their sound ...Well worth any folkie’s examination." The Hippo
”I hurry to recommend Crow and Gazelle. The union (both musicial and personal) of red-dirt legend Mike McClure and the multi-talented Chrislyn Lawrence is music that is made for all the right reasons and full of redemption and promise. To my ears, they are the best new folk/americana duo working in music today. Listen Hard.” Greg Johnson, The Blue Door, OKC
TRUTH BE TOLD (It’s All Here)
“The duo knows how to use spare instrumentation in a creative, powerful manner without being bombastic … it’s consistent and gratifying with a McCartney touch. Mike’s deep voice is a contrast to the angelic tones of Chrislyn… And therein lies the attraction that is the elixir of their repertoire. A pleasurable listen, focused on lyrics, melodies & their pristine vocals. What’s evident is persistent beauty. ”
